Brgy. Maliwalo, Tarlac City, Philippines

Hello Janet, This post is for you 🙂

I had a request from my regular reader who used to live in Tarlac but relocated now in Davao City. She want me to post pictures of Barangay Maliwalo and Maliwalo High School. Her last look on this place was in 1989, whoa! Almost 2 decades!

I was relocated in Tarlac in May 1991 prior to the eruption of Mount Pinatubo. So you’re already gone before I even set my foot in this place Janet. Well, there were big changes from then on. I still remember the first time I saw this place, OMG, I whispered to myself, I don’t think I will survive here… lol! I just arrived from Japan then, from a company training at Sumitomo Wiring Systems, one of the biggest company in Japan. We were sent by Kawasaki Company for further training and in return, I need to be transferred here so I can also share my knowledge to newly hired workers of IWSPC- International Wiring Systems Philippines Corp. – the company where I used to work)

Can you imagine, I am a party goer, we were spending nights in bars and discos and suddenly I will live in a barrio lol! The only recreation I can find here then was the old bowling lane at Jecson (It’s a Hospital now). I remember the first time I tried to watch movie here, I was not able to finish the film because I can’t take it anymore, the movie theater was so mapanghe haha 🙂 and that was my first and last visit to that theater, and The Mandarin and Marco Polo. Those where the places where we used to spend our Saturday night after 5 days of tiring work at IWS but those are all gone now. Tarlac is already invaded by Mc dos, Jollibees, Max’s, Chowkings, Malls etc…

So as promised, because I will be paying my water bill at Tarlac Water District, I brought my cam to give you a shot of the place.

Ayan yung Post office.

So that’s Maliwalo now.

In my case, I’m just making the most out of it. I had my share of struggles and happy moments here and there but I always bear in mind that wherever we live, we’re just underneath the grace of God. Just pause, look up and feel His presence no matter where you are 🙂

    • hi juliet and good day. i got interested in your article about maliwalo, tarlac city as i kept on browsing the intenet hpoing to find some good reasons before we finally decide. reason why is that my wife and i are planning to purchase a house and lot (lumina homes) situated in maliwalo. since i grew up in manila and now based in baguio, wala ako kasi idea how mailwalo looks like, except the pictures you have posted here and the comments from several people. basta meron lang nice, peaceful, environment friendly surroundings and stress free living, ok lang for me and my wife to transfer and live in maliwalo, if these very nice comments and pictures would mean transferring, then why not. i know how difficult and emotional it is to leave the places where i have been to, but at this point, we are almost decided to transfer elsewhere. so, hindi ba kami magkakamali to transfer and live in maliwalo based on the comments and the pictures posted here? help us decide. thanks. btw, if it’s ok with you, can you email me something or anything which i have to now about maliwalo? email add : manny.pancho@outlook.com. many thanks.

I suggest na mag ocular kayo before purchasing your house. If you have your own car, I can send you a map and driving direction. You can also hire one of our local guide to see the place. You can also visit the place via public transport, via bus and PUJ. With the new administration, mas ok na ang public market ngayon, mas malinis at peaceful 🙂 Anyway, Tarlac is just 2 hours away from Manila kaya I know, mas madali kayong makakapag adjust. Looking forward to meet you here 🙂

  9. Truly, indeed bring back memories, nice pictures, I still remember the old high school building, actually i enrolled there year 70’s but did not finish, i was relocated to baguio. I still remember my seat mate Ludy Santos, whom i considered as a friend, who is so talkative they put us infront, and also Miss Genius Julieta Manalang and some Buddies Guinto Brothers. We used to play softball in the other side of the river. Nasaan na kaya sila? I hope the’re still alive. Hope that meron na silang malaki at masayang pamilya. Thank sa pictures Juliet. Please, if you happen to know those people(not the right term)classmates, can you mail me pls. at arceom@live.nl or facebook with the same name. thanks and Godblees you…
