Heats School of Welding Technology

Philippines is now facing an increasing rate of unemployment everyday. It is a fact announced daily on TVs and printed media which is a result of Economic downturn worldwide. But despite the hardships, Filipinos’ character of patience and hardwork will always emerge because Pinoys are natural survivors. There maybe a decreasing demand on wirings, computers, electronic and other related industries but a number of identified skills are still in demand.

One of thriving opportunity for Filipinos abroad is the Welding Industry. The Demand for this specific skill is increasing recently. Surprisingly, this is not just a man’s job anymore as for the latest development, women are already starting to try this area.

The Philippine Government has encouraged Filipino entrepreneurs to open up welding training centers to cope up with the increasing demands for Filipino welders. In my area in particular, there are newly opened technical school offering welding related courses. Heats School of Welding Technology is one good example. Heats started to hold trainings in 2008 by renting private rooms. Most of the participants are now working abroad.

Engr. Pedro Jose Jr.

The good man behind this project is Engr. Pedro Jose Jr. He is a native of Kapanikian, Lapaz, Tarlac. He has been in the field of Welding, QA/QC and Inspection for the past 14 years in the Philippines, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Indonesia and Brunei.

His Noble Mission for the School is to produce World Class Pinoy Welders, Welding Inspectors & other skilled workers. To realize this mission, he turned his home into a Technical School to help not only his fellow Tarlaqueño but his fellow Pinoys from adjacent areas as well.

Heats School of Welding Technology is now in the process of TESDA Accreditation and according to TESDA personnel, their accreditation documents will be released this February 2009. HEATS’ building, classrooms, facilities (such as Welding booths, working table and grinding table), welding machines, tools and materials are now in place and ready.

Pictures below are the proof of Mr. Jose’s humble attempt to turn this project into reality.

I agree that the demand for this specific skill is huge, It’s good that the government of Philippine aware about this demand and provide more training to the people, when you master the skill, these will become the asset of you that people can’t take away and you will have more advantage when looking for job.

  2. Hi Dan, thanks for coming by and for the good comment. Jhun is a fellow blogger who has stumbled in my site searching for Pinatubo and from then on, he became one of my reader and hired my services for their employee & student ID. We’ve meet him and saw his school personally last week. I was impressed by his noble objectives and plan. A good Pinoy struggling to work as an OFW and aiming to help his fellow Pinoys by sharing his expertise ;)I am giving high regards to this type of people. This is what I call Dream & Plan in action…

    • Hi Bhing, I mentioned in my post that “he turned his home into a technical school” kaya bahay talaga :).. Jhun will be offering short courses, halos 1 month lang per course. Ongoing pa ang construction ng training rooms & welding cubicles. By April pa lang kc ang take off nila. Bilib lang ako d2 kay Jhun, kc ang mahal ng mga welding facilities nya talagang pinag-ipunan. I will be posting the rest of the rooms such as the faculty, clinic, library pag in place na lahat. ongoing pa kc ang painting and finishing touches. This is really a fruit of hardwork ng OFW…

  6. Hi Bingkee, gaya ng nasabi ni Juliet, from a house to Technical school. We have 12 Welding booth (laboratory). We can accomodate 12 students per session. Each students will be given one booth, one welding machine complete with accesories for his/her usage for the whole course duration. March po and take off namin. We are now accepting enrollees. By the way we have sophisticated machines (di gaya ng normal machines na nakikita nyo araw araw sa mga talyer). Ganito rin kasi ang gamit namin sa worksite (abroad). At mga instructors namin ay Experienced (local & abroad) at mga matitinik na mga wleders where they can share their expertise and experience. They are TESDA Certified Personnel and I am a Certified Sr. Welding Inspector (CSWIP-UK). I have been Certifying welders locally and abroad for more than 10 years and I already Certify thousands of welders eversince. Good combination di ba?

  8. sir tapos na ako ng training for SMAW NC II, at nakapasa na din po ako ng trade test… gusto ko po sana makapag OJT… ano po mga kailanagn para makapag-OJT?

    Like

  9. Hi Adrian, by right, yun pong pinag graduatan mong school ang mag send sayo sa OJT. Yun pong agreement namin ng BF Metal ay para sa mga graduates po namin as part of their training with us.

However, since tapos ka na ng SMAW NC II at pasado sa trade test, why not apply directly as a welder in any fabrication company in Manila? If you pass their (fabrication companies) internal trade test, then tatanggapin ka nila as welder, but if you fail, of course di ka nila tatanggapin. But I guess kaya mong ipasa kasi naipasa mo na ang trade test mo sa tesda.

    regards
